To celebrate ten successful years of independent bookselling Transreal Fiction is hosting A Bestiary of Authors - an exhibition of photographs and prints of a myriad of science fiction and fantasy luminaries.

The photographs are selected from Madeleine Shepherd’s private work, assembled over the last decade while attending conventions and author events with her partner, Mike Calder (owner of Transreal Fiction). Scotland has recently experienced a boom in home grown SF and fantasy with names such as Iain M Banks, Ken McLeod, Richard Morgan and Charles Stross coming to prominence. In addition to depicting these local authors Shepherd casts a wider net and includes other authors who have visited Scotland – for example, Brian Aldiss, Anne McCaffrey, Jasper Fforde, Elizabeth Moon, Joe Haldeman and others.

Transreal Fiction, located at 7 Cowgatehead, Edinburgh, is Scotland’s premier outlet for new sf and fantasy novels and artbooks. It first opened in April 1997 on a sunny Friday afternoon and has since gone on to gain an international reputation. It sells the latest releases, together with an impressive range of stock titles. Transreal Fiction also sells a wide range of exotic plush animals, including dinosaurs, mammoths and wolves.

The exhibition is open during normal shop hours from 30 July to 2 September 2007 at Transreal Fiction, 7 Cowgatehead Edinburgh. More information about times and location is available via the fringe website.
