At the start of my project an new discovery was announced in Game of Life research. This simple all-over pattern is stable under the rules if it is infinte but a bounded patch of pattern will decay from the edges. Patterns with these properties are know as Agars and this was proved to be one in February 2022. It makes a beautiful knit too!
