Knot Unknot is Madeleine Shepherd's textile studio. She chose this name because it describes a lot of what goes on there and because of its mathematical connotations!

Working mostly with knitting and felting, her practice ranges from community art installations and interdisciplinary collaborations to the textile jewellery and other accessories. Her pieces are often rooted in science, mathematics and science fiction but are always a journey in light, colour, form and texture.

Purchasing from Knot Unknot
There is a selection of smaller pieces available in the Knot Unknot shop on Folksy.

Knot Unknot is based in Coburg House Art Studios 15 Coburg Street, Leith, Edinburgh. Their Gallery Shop stocks work by Knot Unknot and many other artists based in the studio building.

The studio takes part in Open Studios weekends at Coburg House. All strands of Madeleine's current work will be available direct from the studio. These take place on the last weekend of July and and the first weekend of December. You can visit all the participating studios (usually around 80 artists and makers).

Design and craft market bookings, exhibitions and shops stocking Knot Unknot pieces will be listed on this page as they become available.
